Dick Fabian
Dick Fabian is the person who back in the early 70's laid the groundwork for what has become this trend following method.
After suffering through the market decline of the late 1969-1970 he realized he had to find a better way than Buy and Hold.
He had seen first hand what a severe market decline could do to your investments.
I would normally have a link here to the Fabian Financial web site. Dick has closed down his money management firm effective
10/20/2007.

Doug Fabian
Doug Fabian is Dick's son. He has been involved with Fabian Financial at some level for a number of years. He is also
the editor of the newsletter that Dick Fabian founded back in 1977. Doug took over the newsletter in 1992 and from what I
can gather has been moving away from the trend following philosophy that his father started. As a matter of fact, I was a
subscriber to Doug Fabians Successful Investing. I have not renewed my subscription as I felt the information he provided
was weighted heavily in what he thinks and not what is. Although the market flashed a BUY signal in August 2006 and he acknowledged
it in his newsletter, he did not recomend making any purchases because of this and that and the other thing. Look at a chart
from August 2006 till July 2007. Can you see what happened? Almost 1 full year with no trades, just some pretty nice
gains. If you were a subscriber, you missed out.
That's not how trend following works. It's either a BUY signal or a SELL signal. You keep you emotions out of it. On
page 218 of his book, Mutual Fund Wealth Builder, Dick Fabian writes "My point is this: Stick to the rules and don't let
your emotions interfere with your potential success".
Even Al Thomas, who subscribed to Dick Fabians newsletter for the BUY and SELL signals places a note on his OVER MY SHOULDER
newsletter.
"SPECIAL NOTE TO BOOK OWNERS, After my book was published Doug Fabian started messing around doing things
his Daddy never did. He has been loosing money in all of them. When his new venture is not successful he changes the name
of the company and tries to sell you something else. Don't buy it and don't subscribe to his newsletter. I dropped my subscription".
On page 11 of Dick's book, Mutual Fund Wealth Builder, he writes "you have to be different...you do not have to become
a maverick".
The title of Doug Fabian's book........... Maverick Investing.
You can check out his web site if you want. I would be very cautious of his recommendations.
Doug's Making Money Alert for 3/21/07 with his answer to questions about changing his fathers system. Also, look at the lower
half of the newsletter titled FIRST-GENERATION FABIAN REFLECTIONS.

Al Thomas
Al Thomas is the author of "IF IT DOSEN"T GO UP, DON'T BUY IT!", editor of the financial newsletter "OVER MY SHOULDER"
and writes as syndicated newspaper column called "THE ALCHEMIST".
Mr. Thomas tells it like it is in simple to unerstand terms and exposes the so called "experts" on Wall Street. He trashes
brokers, advisors, financial planners and other talking heads for continuing to feed the small investor a line of BS. As a
former trader, brokerage owner and market insider he offers a fresh look at the real world of investing.
Click here for more information on Mr. Thomas from his web site.
Mr. Thomas also follows a trend following approach to investing. As a matter of fact, he subscribed to the Dick Fabian
newsletter for a number of years for his Buy and SELL signals. He stopped his subscription after Doug Fabian took over the
newsletter and changed the methodology.
You can order Mr. Thomas book, subscribe to his free email newspaper column and read the introduction of his book

Michael Covel is the author of
"Trend Following: How Great Traders Make Millions in Up or Down Markets"
and his new book
"The Complete Turtle Trader: The Legend, The Lessons, The Results."
Michael Covel's Web Site. Trend Following and Turtle Trading info.
Check out the links from Michael Covel's site to the Turtle Trader site. Turtle Trading was an experiment back in 1984
by Richard Dennis. He had made a wager with his partner, William Eckhardt, over whether trading skills could be taught. Mr.
Dennis thought that trading could be broken down into a set of rules and taught to anyone. His partner thought trading abilities had
more to do with inate instincts. Richard Dennis won the bet. He put together a group of non traders, gave them the rules and
the rest is history. If you are interested, search the net about the Turtle Trading experiment, its very interesting.
Gary Kaltbaum
Gary is a money manager and host of the nationally syndicated show "Investors Edge". He follows the investment philosophy
developed by William O'Neal of Investors Business Daily. His focus is primarily on stocks but I like to listen to his commentary
on the markets as to the overall theme. I would suggest listening to his show, live if you can or archived from his web site.
I generally listen to about the first 1/2 hour as he talks about the big picture and tune out as he focuses on stocks.

William J. O'Neil
If you are interested in trading individual stocks, this is a good place to start. O'Neil is the founder of Investors
Business Daily and the person that Kaltbaum follows. His CAN SLIM method for finding stocks and his market research are among
the best. At the least, you should read his information about spotting when the market hits a top and spotting when it hits
a bottom.

Frederick Meyette
Mr. Meyette writes a blog called "Managing Your Own IRA & 401(k)" that outlines the Fabian
Trend Following plan. He makes almost daily entries into the blog on a variety of topics that pertain to the Fabian plan.
I would suggest visiting his blog and reading his first entry from 10/31/2007. It is the very start of the blog and gives
a nice overview of the Fabian plan and philosophy.
